Artist's Comments

This took me quite a while to finish since I don't always have time to sit for hours of painting cause I like to get as much done as possible when I sit down to do it!
Anywyas this was just a random character I thought up when I was hoping to draw in my new watercolor sketchbook. I actually drew this with my left hand, however it was inked and painted with my right (inking was however done on the train.... sooooo the left-handedness and train accounts for all the shaky lines ^^; sorry!). Coloring I think was the most difficult because of choosing colors that would go well... since there ended up being a lot of blue I desided to give her pinkish hair to match with the clam rather than my orginal idea of light blue.

Time: o.O..... a long while for all processes
Inspiration was probably from Final Fantasy Unlimited's "guide"
Media: inking pen, watercolor, and black and white inks
Reference used only for the seel..... cause I had no idea how to draw one, I still don't! :P

Oh, so pretty! I really like the delicate quality of the piece. Everything about this is so dainty, from the lineart to the coloration to the color choices themselves. The only thing I don't like about the coloration is the black splatters, because they look dirty to me compared to the delicate, light colors of the rest of the piece. I think perhaps a dark blue would have been more harmonious. Despite the slight dirty look, the splatters do add atmosphere!

Cool character design, too. :D I'm a sucker for the combination of pink and blue anyway and this scheme seems really fitting for a sea princess. I love the translucent scarf and pretty frills.

Hmm You're right! I never thought of that and I even have a medium blue colored ink I could have used, I maybe try that next time I do a water picture! ^_^ I'm glad you like it though, thanks for the comment it was helpful.
